Teacher Education Exchange members currently work in English universities but have substantial professional experience in primary schools, secondary schools and further education colleges. As teachers, we specialised in English and languages, History, Geography, Religious Education, Design and Technology, and Computer Science and ICT. In schools, we held roles such as head of department or faculty, deputy head (vice principal) and headteacher. Nationally, we have also been elected to leadership positions in subject teaching associations and teacher unions.
In universities, our expertise lies in teacher education and development; urban education; education policy; equity and social justice; professional learning; educational leadership; and learning and teaching in classrooms. We have also held leadership positions in universities, including responsibility for quality assurance and accountability of teacher preparation programmes that have been regarded as positively life-changing by our students, highly effective by the schools with whom we collaborate, and as ‘outstanding’ by the inspectorate.
